The staff here at the Eagle Battalion strives to set our incoming Cadets up for success. If you have not yet done so, please complete the Prospect Questionnaire to the right so that our staff will have your information on file.

Housing at Southern Pines

Through our relationship with University Housing, the Eagle Battalion has its own Living/Learning Community in Southern Pines for our incoming Cadets. This means you will have the opportunity to live with other Cadets, who will often share many of the same interests, majors and classes, and PT schedules. Cadets are matched by our staff. Those incoming freshman Cadets with scholarships offers (4YR and 3YR National List, Minuteman, etc) are required to live in ROTC housing. It is highly recommended for all other freshman Cadets to also take advantage of this opportunity.

Since offering ROTC housing in Southern Pines, the Eagle Battalion has experienced a higher retention rate, higher GPAs and PT scores, and far less complaints about roommate conflicts. Cadets often plan movie nights, cookouts, and trips. Those Cadets who live together their Freshman year often choose to live together throughout college.

When making your Housing selections, please list Southern Pines as your first choice. Additionally, be sure to notify Ms. Rainey via email (arainey@georgiasouthern.edu) that you plan to live in ROTC housing, so that we submit your name and Eagle ID number on our official housing list.

SOAR Orientation and Registration

After you have been accepted to Georgia Southern and have registered for a SOAR date, please contact us with your SOAR dates. While at SOAR, we ask that you stop by our table and breakout session. We will also register you for ROTC classes and have you meet with our administrative staff.

Medical

As part of your entry into our program, you will be required to undergo a physical examination and a medical qualification process through the Department of Defense Medical Examination Review Board (DODMERB).

You must notify us of any previous or current medical issues, including asthma, allergies, surgeries, broken bones, head trauma, medications, etc. In many cases, DODMERB will request that our office submit all medical records for such issues before making their final decision. You must be medically qualified before contracting.

Freshman Move-in Day

Each year, ROTC Cadets assist incoming freshman Cadets and their families during Operation Move-In at Southern Pines. ROTC Cadets will move in on Friday, August 9, 2024.

New Cadet Orientation

Our annual Cadet Orientation will be held Monday, August 12, 2024 and is required of all incoming freshmen and new Cadets. The timeline will be pushed out via email as we approach the start of the school year. We’ll begin Cadet and Battalion Leadership introductions, turn in outstanding paperwork, and receive company assignments. You’ll also get to see where your ROTC classes will be held.
